its completely normal! first of all: you should trim it often but not that much just the split ends cuz hair wont grow from split ends. u should brush your hair often, like if your on the computer and just doing nothing much- grab a comb! and not the kind thats like squeezy and round like the one from Conair thats hard..

im afro cuban and our hair grows SLOW!...wash it more (not everyday cuz that will dry it out) MOisturize your scalp and clip your split ends. ALSO TRY TO MINIMIZE USING HEAT ON IT!.. I know how much ppl blow dry and use the curling iron but that will wear out ur hair and delay growth.

Edit: OMG AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!!...My hair grew a few inches while i was pregnant because of all the vitamins. Nails too. take prenatal vitamins. doctors recommend them even if your not pregnant cuz they have so much good stuff! I guarantee u see a difference in a couple months.
