The only option that we seem to have is to put it back with barrets until it grows, to keep it out of her eyes. But the problem is she pulls them out and trys to put them in her mouth, I am scared to death that i will turn my back for a second and her will choke on it.
What else is there is do when you are trying to let their hair grow?

try hairties instead of barrets
do it gently and dont worry about perfection the first time then if she takes it out redo it and make sure it's perfect and dont be so gentle this will teach her to leave it in every time she takes it out redo it be consistent
we do the same thing with our daughter and it worked wonders once i can get her to sit down
now she'll just let me do it and leave it alone all day

Claire's in the mall sells tiny elastic rubberbands for babies. They are too difficult for my daughter to pull out of her hair (I even have a hard time). Also, Goody makes small elastics as well. I've seen them at Wal-Mart. I'm growing my daughter's hair out as well and put it up in these every day.

putting barrets on little children is not a good idea, and yes its a choking hazard. i dont have a girl but maybe you can use other hair stuff like a "rubberband" covered with cloth? I dont know its name. maybe it will work. . .

she is only 14 months why would you cut her hair. i would try using baby hair products and some small scrunchies (for baby) and just put her hair up

hairbands are safe and easy to put back on when my 15 month old pulls hers out, look great to with different outfits!! aw bless
