When you shave pubic hair why does it grow back as it stops at a certain length and does not grow any further, so how does it know to grow just because you have shaved it all off?

Because the hair follicle is still there. If you killed the hair follicle, the hair would stop growing back. =)

The follicles are still alive. Once the hair grows out of the follicle, it is already dead tissue. This is why you can't get DNA from hair unless you have its root. It breaks off after a while and new hair grows. Next time you shower or bathe, look in the water and you'll see the hair that has broken off. Yes, pubic grooming is becoming popular. I'm sure in the future more people will freak out seeing bushy jungles rather than a "clean slate". too bad it's kinda the opposite right now!!!!
