Does Body Hair Grow Back Over Inked Spots?

Recently, I had some ink done on my upper back. Prior to it I went to get my back waxed so as there would be no hair and it wouldn't grow back as fast in the surrounding areas as opposed to shaving it.

The tattoo artist explained that everyone is different when it comes to body hair. He said that some have stronger roots than others and it depends on what part of the body. For example the hair on one's chest and back are stronger than on one's lower leg area. So the hair regrowth of the lower leg might be affected more than that of one's chest or back.

So I wanted to know does hair generally re-grow over inked areas? If so, will the frequent waxing/shaving of the inked area affect the work?

Yes hair will grow over the inked areas of your body. And no, waxing and/or shaving doesn't ruin your tattoos. (I had a big tattoo done in 2001 in a rather "private" area and it still looks great)

it should do i know people that have to shave spots that they have had tattood if it grows back it might not grow as thick or as long as it did before

As far as I know hair growth rates are NOT effected by tattoos. The hair will regrow over your tattoo. But what nobody's telling you is the the hair comes out the SAME COLOR AS THE INK!!

That artist was full of bologna. Hair definitely still grows where you have ink, and near as I can tell at the same rate.

yes, your hair will grow back. no, your hair won't grow back in the same color as the ink. Waxing and shaving will not affect the tattoo once it has healed.

UV radiation will affect the tattoo colors.

Waxing will cause the hair to grow back slower and over time destroys the roots and eventually the hair will stop growing back.
