I know it works, or at least it seems to, but when you tell someone that, they are like it's an old wives tale, hair grows from the root not the tip, so why would trimming the ends make it grow faster. I'd like to be able to argue about it, if it's true, but I need to understand why it works like that?
Why does trimming your hair help it grow faster? Hair grows from the root not the tip.?
simple, just like trimming a bush or tree, it will grow fuller. if you cut the tip, it no longer needs to supply nutrients to that tip, so they are sent to the parts still attached, causing them to grow at a faster rate. see, very simple.

trimming doesn't make your hair grow faster. trimming cuts off the damaged part of your hair before the damage worsens and it breaks off.

It doesn't work that way. The only way I can get my hair to grow is to not cut it at all.
Why does trimming your hair help it grow faster? Hair grows from the root not the tip.?
It doesn't really. Trimming it cuts off the damaged/broken ends that can just get worse(severe breakage=shorter hair) if you don't trim it off. So it appears to be growing faster when really it's just not breaking off.
Why does trimming your hair help it grow faster? Hair grows from the root not the tip.?
bc the tips of your hair gets brittle and falls off, especially if you straighten or curl it everyday or have fried hair bc they get dry and fall off. but actually your hair is always growing you just cant tell if you dont go get an annual trim bc your ends keep falling off so you get no length to your hair and when its trimmed once a month or whatever you can really notice a difference cause your hair is healthy and doesnt break off at the ends...

what i have read in magazines, is that when you go to a salon and they wash and dry your hair for you, they rub your scalp with the tips of their fingers harder than you do in your shower everyday, and this stimulation of your head "encourages" hair growth, but doesn't always mean a quick inch on length.
